We are not responsible for the content of external internet sites London MCN Motorcycle Show 2009 O nce again bike and babe enthusiasts packed the Excel centre in London’s Royal Docks for the 2009 MCN Motorbike show. The credit crunch had not dampened the interest or appetite of visitors to see the latest bikes and catch glimpses of the ever hot biker babes. This year’s show hosted a good mix of sportbike manufacturers, bike accessories and motor-related services, with stands from Honda, Ducati, BMW, KTM, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph, Harley-Davidson and Buell.
Terry Grant, the official stunt driver for Renault Formula 1 and already a double digit holder of world records, made attempts to beat his own record by two wheeling a Honda civic into a narrow gap. In between record attempts he showed that Dukes of Hazard manoeuvres are still alive and kicking by jumping through the windows of interlocked ‘doughnuting’ cars. Daredevils from the Freestyle Motorcross (FMX) team launched into what can only be described as near hands-free mid air bike summersaults, definitely something not to be missed.
The MCN usually attracts exhibitors from all corners of the motorsport world and this year was no exception. Lycra clad ‘Chewy’ had made the trip south from the ‘SantaPod’ drag racing circuit in Northamptonshire and was busy getting to grips with the 2009 ‘Vegas Jackpot’. The tourer with 4-stroke 50 V-Twin/1731cc engine makes a bold statement in ‘Lucky Lime’ green and is a new addition to the 2009 range from relative newcomer to the bike world Victory Motorcycles.
Proud Brookes brothers from Yellow Metal Racing, had brought their new hand built bike the ‘PUMA’ to inspire and show just what can be done when you turn your garden shed into a bike workshop. Bob who has spent two years hand crafting the PUMA was excited that it was attracting so much interest. The drag bike, which runs on cheaper Methanol is looking to achieve a top speed of 200mph over a quarter mile. Their next race is at Easter at the SantaPod drag circuit.

Action and thrills were provided by Car stunt man Terry Grant, the Freestyle Motocross team ‘FMX’ together with stunt riding champion Kevin Carmichael (pictured left). The stunt teams wowed crowds during the sell-out shows in the Carole Nash live action arena. Kevin demonstrated precision bike control and pulled some great wheelies, but remember if you’re going to try these tricks at 'home' don't film them and put them on You Tube.
